Lives & creates in Setauket, NY

"Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still."
-- Dorothea Lange
Photographer, painter, mixed media artist... I love to experiment and create!

These are the questions I ask myself about every one of my photographs:
What would I like to share about this subject? Why?
Is it color, pattern, motion, emotion?
How can I express this ?
Self-composed still life, old barns and buildings, and the quiet beauty of Long Island, NY and the lovely "Three Village" area where I live are some of my favorite subjects. Beauty and meaning can be found in everyday places and objects.
My recent frame-less artwork includes mixed media creations that combine photography, Japanese paper, acrylic transfers, hand-painting with Panpastels, and acrylic collages that are one of a kind.

And last year, I learned how to create hand-printed, sun-exposed cyanotypes and I am hooked! This is a completely manual, unpredictable, and rewarding process that produces fascinating results.

Look around, enjoy the artwork, contact me with any questions. Thanks for reading this, and I hope we meet one day!

Creatively yours,
Marlene
